Dr. Donald Barr
Neurology Specialists of Jupiter is pleased to introduce Dr. Donald Barr, M.D.
Dr. Donald Barr is a general neurologist with a specialization in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of epilepsy. Dr. Barr graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
He completed his neurology residency at Texas A&M Health Science Center. Dr. Barr also completed two years of epilepsy fellowship training at the University of Miami.
My Story
Dr. Barr’s approach to patient care:
“When I was a child, my father was diagnosed with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with frequent seizures with staring and lip smacking. It was frightening and sobering to see such fragility in the man who had always been the model of security and strength for me. This personal experience has allowed me to have a unique insight into what family members and patients with epilepsy are experiencing. It inspired me to pursue a career in neurology, where I can help others who are facing similar circumstances.
It’s a privilege to be a part of the process of improving their quality of life through the management of the condition and common comorbidities.
When working with patients, transparency and teaching are very important to me. I believe that providing the highest level of care includes explaining the patient’s condition in a way they can understand, as well as providing direction. I also ensure them that I will be with them each step of the way and instill the confidence to always ask questions, during and after their visits.”
